The dog days of summer are upon us. Join us for some evening-time swing Mondays at Kake's, and at our last two summer dances outside the teahouse. Details below:
Mondays at Kakes
We start a new Level 1 Swing series this month on August 6th from 8-9pm. If you are new to swing dancing, this is where you should start.
If you've completed a month of Level 1, then you're ready to start our Level 1.5 from 7-8pm. This month we'll be focusing on promenades, closed position movements, listening to the music, and adding counts to moves.
Level 2 will be from 8-9pm and is for those who've taken two months of 1.5. This month we're on our Six-count series, which covers six-count moves and how to mix them in with your eight-count lindy hop.
Specialty Drop-In Classes
We are continuing our special topics series during our Monday 7-8PM time slot for the month of August. All specialty classes are drop-in friendly, but you must have completed Level 1.5 or equivalent.
AUGUST 6 - Fresh Footwork from the Roots of Lindy Hop with Stefan
AUGUST 13 - Effortless dancing: expanding space and time in your Lindy Hop with Stefan
Stefan is an international Lindy Hop instructor, choreographer, and performer. Here's a video of Stefan performing:
AUGUST 20 - Tango for Lindy Hoppers with Jessica Cutler
Jessica travels the world teaching Tango (and is a darn good Lindy Hopper to boot). Here's a video of Jessica to get you excited for her class:
AUGUST 27 - Tandem Charleston Variations
SOCIAL DANCE
After class, from 9 PM-11pm we'll have our regular weekly dance. Staying for the social dance is a great way to try out moves you learn from lessons, as well as get to know your classmates, and it's free if you take a class.
ON AUGUST 13th* Jeremy Mohney and his band are playing for us, so stick around for some great live music *Jeremy will join us the SECOND Monday this month, rather than the usual first Monday of the month.
The Teahouse Swing Out Summer Series
This summer we are throwing a series of free outdoor evening Swing dance parties at the Dushanbe Teahouse in historic downtown Boulder. Dance outside while enjoying the summer evenings near Boulder Creek. We will also be offering a free 30 minute swing crash course before every dance for those looking to start out.
Price:
The dance is free to the public, but a suggested donation of $5 would be appreciated to help support the dance.
Time:
7:00-7:30 Free Beginner Lesson
7:30-10:00 DJ Dance Party
Dates:
Sunday, August 12th
Friday, August 24th
We need volunteers to help us set up or tear down for these dances! Set up will begin around 5:45 before the lesson begins, and involves helping prepare the dance floor. If you're interested in volunteering, please email info@boulderswingdance.com!
Want to be more involved with Boulder Swing?
Then we need you! We are looking to train more people to as part of our front door staff. This is a trade program, so for each hour you work, you get a class for free. If you are interested, please talk to Lisa and Auliya or email us!
Just one more quick note:
Online reviews actually help us out a lot! We'd love to hear about your experiences on Google or Yelp.
